On Q Reads

What better way to relax during these final dog days of summer than with a cold brew in one hand and an awesome read in the other?

It’s the one common thing that always sparks up a good conversation during our coffee breaks at On Q. In honour of Book Lover’s Day, our team is sharing some of the best non fiction and inspiring reads on our list.

And since it’s book lover’s day today, we thought why not share some of our favourite reads with you?

1 . The Book: Tools of Titans: The Tactics, Routines, and Habits of Billionaires, Icons, and World-Class Performers

The Author: Timothy Ferriss

The Bookworm: Jeff Barfield, Director of Digital Strategy

The verdict:

“This is one of my go-to books when I’m facing a challenge. Tools of the Titans summarizes the routines and habits of some of the worlds most successful people, drawing parallels and shedding light on what you as an individual can do to become better. The advice in the book is very practical and I quickly found myself integrating elements of it into my life without even thinking about it. Tools of the Titans shows the reader that failure is the pathway towards success and that creativity is something that anyone can cultivate.”

2. The Book: Awaken The Giant Within

The Bookworm: Tanya Dodaro, Co-Founder

The Author: Anthony Robbins

The verdict:

“This book is the ultimate motivator for anything you desire to accomplish. Tony Robbins does such a great job of using analogies to get his point across. I also love this book because you can apply the same logic to someone who is 19 or 99 and to any situation personal, relationships, work, etc. I dare you to read this book and not get up and do something great!”

3. The Book: Bossypants

The Bookworm: Brittany Linton, Social Media Manager

The Author: Tina Fey

The verdict:
“As someone who appreciates delving into a juicy, plot-rich fictional book, industry related reads can at times be a little bit less captivating in comparison. So when I’m hankering for some insight into the world of business and motivation I tend to sway a little bit more on the unconventional side of things when it comes to industry reads! So what’s one of my favourites? Insert: Bossypants by Tina Fey! As a female in a predominantly male driven industry, Tina Fey’s road to success in comedy is both inspiring and hilariously relatable. It is seriously “laugh out loud” funny… a hard feat to accomplish in a book! I love reading about strong women coming into their own and finding success, and Tina Fey’s experience is no different! Love this book!”
