Muzeum: Leveraging Canada’s 150 to become a household name

Our Challenge

When Muzeum came to us looking to raise its their profile in the city, we couldn’t resist! Between admiring its rare and unique valuables from around the world, to exposing the employees’ expertise, On Q knew that Muzeum was a gold mine waiting to be stumbled upon. With competition in the industry running high, Muzeum wanted to conduct a Toronto media blitz to help the high end Yorkville antiques shop be recognized as a household name.

The Strategy behind the campaign

  • Tie in Muzeum’s valuable and rare Canadian memorabilia with Canada 150 to make the story timely and interesting, and grab the attention of fans. The rare memorabilia consisted of an original flag flown on parliament hill that was signed by John Ross Matheson, one of the creators of the Canadian flag

  • Train and prep the business owner to be the lead spokesperson

  • Strategically organize a photo opportunity inside Muzeum’s headquarters where top tier media could be immersed in the Muzeum environment while still gaining the material needed for their stories, providing media a great visual to draw on

  • Focus on building and enhancing Muzeum’s expertise in the industry

Bragging Rights

  • On the day of the photo opportunity, Toronto’s most notable news stations such as City TV, CTV and CBC flocked to Muzeum

  • The event generated over 3.8 million impressions with features in outlets such as Global Morning Live, CTV, Toronto Sun and Inside Toronto

  • The media coverage enable the business owner to establish his expertise among existing customers and new customers through credible third-party endorsements and television appearances
