Berczy Park: The re-launch of Toronto’s most anticipated park

Our Challenge

After an extensive rejuvenation project led by esteemed architect Claude Cormier, the City of Toronto was ready to re-launch its most anticipated piece of real estate: Berczy Park. Located in the bustling historic St.Lawrence neighbourhood, Berczy Park was projected to be the city’s number one hotspot for locals and their dogs, tourists and suburbanites invited to enjoy the park and it’s one-of-a-kind dog fountain. But with Canada’s 150th birthday celebration falling on the heels of the park opening, The City of Toronto needed a public relations firm that could break through the noise.

The Strategy behind the campaign

  • Strategically choose spokespeople based on story angles and credibility

  • Develop a media outreach plan that spans from mainstream publications to industry publications such as architecture and travel

  • Create and distribute a variety of tactics such as news releases, photo opportunities and media alerts, ensuring that Berczy Park was in the eyes and ears of every news desk in the city

  • Continually develop various and unique story ideas that media could run with

  • Facilitate media interviews for the many Berczy Park spokespeople

Bragging Rights

  • Secured top tier interviews with CBC Radio, CBC News, Toronto Star and Breakfast Television

  • Saw pre-coverage, and media attendance for the park opening from top-tier outlets across Toronto including: CP24, CTV News, Metro News, Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, Metro Morning and Global News

  • The coverage generated nearly 25 million impressions for the park opening, securing Berczy Park as the go-to spot, and its dog fountain as one of the places ‘Toronto can’t get enough of’ according to Blog TO
