#BrandsOnQ: Wisey’s Pies grows with Toronto Star feature

What does a Kiwi arborist do when his tree climbing days are over? Bake pies of course! At least that’s what Anthony Spinley did and having our office two doors down, we couldn’t be happier.

Wisey’s Pies and Bakehouse is just shy of their two year anniversary and have already made a mark on Toronto with a New Zealand classic. Their savoury pies and sweet treats have garnered attention from huge media outlets like the Toronto Star and Toronto Life. Leading to a much deserved spot on our #BrandsOnQ list.

These savoury pies are a staple in New Zealand; you can’t go wrong with the fluffy pastry and a variety of fillings ranging from veggie to lamb to butter chicken. Trust us when we say that they are beyond delicious—and addicting. Wisey’s unique product, as well as the enthusiasm and charisma of its co-founder has brought the media knocking on their door. We wanted to get the inside scoop on Wisey’s so we sat down with Anthony and asked him a few questions.

Public relations can be an effective form of marketing because it is a third party trustworthy endorsement of your brand. Wisey’s understands this as these media hits have transferred into sales and increased awareness. When we sat down with Anthony Spinley he said that they “were surprised to see the impact that one article had…people came in and bought pies and we watched the sales climb after that.”

Anthony is passionate about pies and he wants this passion to spread to consumers. What’s a better way to do this than through media relations? Word of mouth and the New Zealand community have spread the news of Wisey’s but he says media attention will take it to the next level by educating consumers about pies and helping them to expand across Ontario and Canada. More attention from the media will have more people flocking to Wiseys and once you have one, you can’t stop there.

As Wisey’s moves into the wholesale business they’re “endeavouring to make [fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][their] pies available to be enjoyed by the masses.” Keep your eye out for Wisey’s and Anthony Spinley in the media…you might even spot the former arborist eating a pie on top of a tree![/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
